I have installed an interesting application - BlogJet. It’s a Windows client for my blog tool (as well as for other tools).

Attempts at viral marketing aside, it’s got some features that look good to me:

• spell checker (most important, but I want American spelling, please. “Organizing” is how we spell it.)
• post to draft — Sometimes I don’t want to publish something right away. I only want to get it online so that I can finish it later, from another computer.  Posting to draft does that. Writely, an online editor which I like a lot, only posts to publish immediately. 
• categories — Categories provide a non-chronological way of organizing posts, making it easy for someone to find a post based on the topic, rather than the date. Writely doesn’t support that, unfortunately. Since it doesn’t, I have to go to the post, enter edit mode, and check off the categories I want for the post.  This is an extra step that I don’t need to take using BlogJet.

So far, I like it a lot. It does cost $40, but that’s not a lot to pay for increased productivity. It’s especially nice for people new to blogging, who aren’t comfortable typing into an online window, and who need a bit more support than, say, WordPress.com offers. Their rich text editing is still pretty poor.

 However, it creeps me out that every time I type BlogJet, the word is immediately hyper-linked.  OK, I get it that you want everyone to know about Blogjet, people.

 But that’s a bit much.
