Bringing blogging to your business!
You may be wondering why you should bother with a weblog, especially if you’re coming to this blog for the first time. You’ve never heard of blogs before, or you’ve only just heard of them, but never had the time to see what the fuss was all about. Who reads these things, anyway?
According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project, approximately 50 million internet users read blogs (11%). (Probably not all of them will be reading your blog, unfortunately). I believe that blogs are where web pages in general were a few years ago, so these numbers will only increase. A few years ago, web pages were optional. But now, most businesses have some sort of presence on the web — it’s become routine.
As routine as web pages are, many businesses are realizing that they’re not enough. For many, their web sites are merely “brochure-ware,” a static collection of pieces of information. That’s good for the occasional visit by a customer, but, as with your actual business, you want people to keep you in mind, to keep coming back. And that’s where blogs come in.
Blogs represent a way for you to continually engage your customers — to create a conversation, not just a transaction.
And how do people keep up with all these conversations going on all over the place? Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post.
